Mike Chappell has been the beat writer for the Indianapolis Colts since 1989.  He has written very little about Art Monk, so it’s impossible to know how he might vote.

Lofton was elected from a list of 14 finalists, plus Stram, that included Art Monk. While Monk’s resume included 940 career receptions and 68 touchdowns, Lofton earned support from the 39-member selection committee on the strength of 764 receptions, 14,004 yards and 75 touchdowns, and by averaging 18.3 yards per catch.
