Marvin Harrison passes Art Monk…

Marvin Harrison passed Art Monk for fifth on the all-time receptions list today.  Harrison is a sure-fire Hall of Famer according to most observers, but we all once said that about Art Monk.

There are actually a lot of similarities between Harrison and Monk.  Both went to Syracuse.  Both are not afraid of going across the middle.  Both are the go-to receivers when their teams need first downs.  One of the big knocks on Monk is that his yards-per-catch are not very high, but Harrison actually has a lower yards-per-catch (13.3) than Monk (13.5).

Before there was Harrison, there was Monk.  Both should be in the Hall of Fame.
